ALBA Berlin Rocks BBL Opener in Style
After much excitement and anticipation from its fans, the German Bundesliga tipped off its 2015/16 season last night. ALBA Berlin looked sharp in their convincing 74-54 win over Ratiopharm Ulm. Will Cherry led ALBA Berlin with a game-high 17 points. The rust was evident in Ratiopharm Ulm’s opening plays, while ALBA was already humming on all cylinders right away. Things got out of hand very quickly and the boys in yellow surged ahead with a 25-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Ratiopharm could not find their shot and ended the game shooting just 22% from the field.
ALBA had a strong start in 2014/15 so this is not new territory for them. They will need to elevate their game come the post-season in order to finish strong and take that gold. Then again, that is still much further down the road. For now, Ratiopharm Ulm has to lick its wounds and work hard to get that first win on the board.
