Al Manama clinches 4th straight Bahrain title
Al Manama tightened its grip on the Bahrain Basketball League, with the nation’s dominant club cementing its position as champions. The team claimed a fourth consecutive league title, and its 20th top flight crown overall.
The victory came at the expense of Al Ahli (84-79) in the final, which was held in the Bahrain Basketball Association Sports Hall in Um Al Hassam. Al Manama is the dominant force at the moment, but with 17 titles in its history, Al Ahli is a constant threat, and this was a clash between Bahrain’s two premier clubs.
The champs got off to a terrific start with a 25-16 surge in the first quarter to take a solid lead through the opening split. In the second frame, Al Ahli fought back with a 17-26 winning period that made it a locked game through the long break, the score reading 42-42. Al Manama managed to sneak the third act and then simply closed it out in the fourth quarter, although Al Ahli made it a contest to the final buzzer.
Kadeem Coleby topped the scoring for Al Manama with 23 points, while Hussain Mohammed was close with 22 points.
Hussain Shaker was the sole double digit scorer for the losing effort, but he was hot to the tune of a game high 33 points.
