ABA Playoffs: Buducnost Punches Ticket to Finals
Buducnost Podgorica secured their spot in the finals on April 1st after a dominating 72-57 victory over Cedevita Zagreb in Game 3 of their semifinal matchup. This is a special moment for the Montenegrin organization. This will be the first time in the club’s history to qualify for the Adriatic League finals. They now await the winner of the game between Crvena Zvezda and Mornar Bar which will be played out later tonight.
Cedevita led early in the game but it did not take long for Buducnost to battle back and seize control. Buducnost ended up dominating the boards and the shooting from beyond the arc. That combination was just too much much for Cedevita to handle and Buducnost went on to cruise to victory.
Petar Popovic led all Buducnost scorers with 14 points, while Nikola Ivanovic added 13 points of his own.
Unless Mornar Bar pulls out a rabbit out of a hat, Buducnost could be on a collision course with regular season champs and defending champions, Crvena Zvezda Beograd. While they’ve already reached one milestone, there’s no reason why they should not shoot for the stars, and maybe, just maybe, shoot down a red one.
