ABA Liga: Crvena Zvezda’s Streak Now at 10 Wins
There was only one game played on December 9th for the ABA Liga’s Round 10 of the 2018-19 regular season but it was a must-watch game with league leader, Crvena Zvezda Beograd’s streak on the line. They faced off against KK Zadar in Belgrade. Much to the delight of their avid fans, Red Star came through with flying colors and blew out their guests 97-70. Zadar is now 3-7 and needs to make some changes in order to vie for a playoff spot in this very competitive league.
We’ve seen Crvena Zvezda run up a streak all the way up to 20 wins in the ABA League in 2016-17. That one was ended, bitterly, by their Eternal Derby rivals BC Partizan. Will this be the season that Red Star finally completes a perfect regular season? Frankly, it’s too early to tell right now, but at least they’re on the right track and looking very good as of now.
Joe Ragland shined for Red Star, leading them with 17 points and six assists. The red and white shirts led from the early goings and did not allow Zadar to challenge them, thanks to their notable defense. Surprisingly, the visiting squad was able to keep up with the long-range assault of Red Star but it took them far more shots to connect on nine, while the hosts were on point, going 10-for-18 from deep. One of the key factors in the game was their ability to take care of the ball. Zadar committed 15 turnovers compared to 10 by Crvena Zvezda.
There are two games left to be played in the round, with Krka going up against Cibona and Buducnost hosting Mega Bemax tonight.
Here are the results of the other games of the ABA Liga Round 10 that were played earlier in the week:
December 7th
