7Days EuroCup Semifinals are Set
The brackets of the 7Days EuroCup semifinals are finally set after three teams emerged victorious in their respective quarter-final tilts. Valencia Basket already punched their tickets last week and now they’re joined by ALBA Berlin, MoraBanc Andorra, and Unics Kazan. The trio of do-or-die games were all close as the six teams competing wanted the win and wanted it bad.
ALBA Berlin 79-75 Unicaja Malaga
ALBA Berlin secured their semifinal berth on Wednesday night with an impressive win over Unicaja Malaga at Mercedes-Benz Arena. They rained down 13 3-pointers on their guests and also controlled the action on the glass 30 vs. 24. Peyton Silva paced the Berliners with a 15-point, 10-assist double-double, leading four other teammates to score in double figures.
ASVEL Villeurbanne 80-82 MoraBanc Andorra
This was arguably the most exciting game of the night as it literally came down to the final shot. Both teams went at it hard, exchanging leads multiple times from the opening tip. Dylan Ennis sealed the deal for Andorra with the go-ahead bucket down the stretch. He came through with 14 points, four rebounds and seven assists for the Spanish club. Miro Bilan led ASVEL with 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Unics Kazan 69-65 Lokomotiv Kuban
Unics Kazan moved on to the 7Days EuroCup semis on Wednesday after closing out their all-Russian series vs. Lokomotiv Kuban. Konstantinos Kaimakoglou picked the perfect spot to go off, leading Unics with 14 points. He went 6-for-7 from the field including a couple of big 3-pointers, one of which helped lift Unics up as the game was winding down.
On March 19th, ALBA Berlin will face off against MoraBanc Andorra, while Valencia hosts Unics Kazan. Buckle up
