NBA Play-Offs: Warriors seize initiative over Jazz

Game 2 of the NBA Play-Offs Conference Semi-finals tipped off on Tuesday night as the Washington Wizards hosted the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz welcomed the Golden State Warriors.

Both the Warriors and the Celtics took charge of their series with victories, allowing the Celtics to move 2-0 ahead in their best-of-five run, while the Warriors were able to take down the first game of their series.

Washington Wizards vs. Boston Celtics, 119-129

In a high-octane contest, both teams pummelled the bucket, but it was the Celtics who came away with an overtime victory. The hosts were explosive in the first quarter and looked to be on the road to victory with a 42-29 run. In the second frame the Celtics hit back with 35 points to bring the scoreboard to 67-64.

The scoring calmed in the third act, allowing the Wizards to use a 22-20 run to make it 89-84 through the long break. Boston grabbed the momentum and managed to win the fourth quarter and tie the game 104-104 through regulations time. The guests held strong in the overtime period and claimed the victory.

Isiah was amazing in the win as he drained 53 points. Alfred Horford claimed a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley scored 14 points each.

John Wall was a consistent attacking threat with a double-double of 40 points and 13 assists. Marcin Gortat also doubled up with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors, 94-106

The Warriors broke a century of points on the way to a 1-0 series lead over the Utah Jazz. Golden State looked comfortable throughout, and took charge with 21-27 lead through the opening quarter. Utah Jazz played well and tried to get into the game, but the Warriors were strong for a 25-31 second act. Through the long break the score to 46-58.

The hosts managed a third quarter win, but only by a single point with a 27-26 run that made it 73-84 through thirty minutes. The game was done as the guests edged the fourth quarter to ease down the straight.

Stephen Curry drained 22 points in the win, while Draymond Green and Kevin Durant nailed 17 points apiece.
