Guaros de Lara wins back-to-back Liga Americas titles
Defending Directv Liga Americas champions, Guaros de Lara (Venezuela-LPB) convincingly defeated Weber Bahia Blanca Basket (Argentina-Liga A), 88-65 to retain their crown in 2017. The game was close in the first half.
The game was close in the first half. With Bahia holding onto a two-point lead (35-37) as both squads headed to their respective locker rooms for the halftime break.
The second half was a completely different story. A motivated Guaros de Lara team burst out of the gates in the third frame and stepped on the gas. Not only did they connect on their shots from outside of the three-point arc, they also ramped up their defensive intensity, forcing Weber Bahia to make ill-advised shots. The Argentinian made just 3-of-24 shots from deep, while Guaros de Lara managed to connect on 11-of-20 of their shot attempts from long range.
Zach Graham paced Guaros de Lara with a game-high 20 points. Luis Bethelmy added 18 points of his own.
On Weber Bahia’s end, Lucio Redivo missed nine of his shot attempts from deep but still managed to finish with a team-high 17 points.
