1st Team All-Adriatic League

Court Side Newspaper introduces the 2016/2017 season 1st Team All-Adriatic League. We base our selection ONLY on the advanced statistics of Player Efficiency Rating (PER). This is a one-number measure of a player’s per-minute productivity. It is an overall efficiency statistic that sums up a player’s positive accomplishments, subtracts the negative accomplishments, and returns a per-minute rating of a player’s performance. Until recently only the NBA used this advanced statistic. It has never been used before in the Adriatic League.

ANTE ZIZIC IS ADRIATIC LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ante Zizic (210 cm, Center) had the highest PER in the Adriatic League with 31,7. It is true that he left his team Cibona half-way through the season, to sign with Darussafaka in Turkey, but stats don’t lie. Zizic also lead the Adriatic League in both scoring (20 ppg) and rebounding (9,2 rpg).Ante Zizic POY Adriatic League

F-Luka Babic, 201 cm, Cedevita

F/C-Nikola Jankovic, 207 cm, Olimpija

F/C-Ognjen Kuzmic, 214 cm, Crvena Zvezda

All the above players have a PER of 21 or more. Notable players who didn’t make the 1st team All-Adriatic League are; Miro Bilan (PER 20,5), Novica Velickovic (PER 17,7), Charles Jenkins (PER 18,8) and Jonah Bolden (PER 19,2).

NOT ZIZIC BUT SHAWN JAMES MOST DOMINANT REBOUNDER

Shawn James (208 cm, Buducnost) was a real beast on the boards. He grabbed 25,8 % of all available rebounds while he was on the floor! He was followed by Uros Lukovic (21,5). Ante Zizic who averaged most rebounds per game only had a rebounding rate of 20,6. Why is there a big discrepancy between advanced and traditional stats? Because Zizic averaged more minutes per game and had more time to collect his rebounds. But Shawn James is a much more dominant rebounder when he is on the floor.

UROS LUKOVIC MOST DOMINANT SHOTBLOCKER

Uros Lukovic (213 cm, Partizan) had a block percentage of 11,6! In other words, while he is on the floor he blocks almost one in every nine opponent field-goal attempts. Amazing! He also ranked 2nd in the traditional statistic of average blocked shots per game (1,55). The leader in that category is Shawn James (208 cm, Buducnost). He blocked 1,58 shots per game but with a blocking percentage of only 9,8.

DIFFERENT TYPE OF PASSERS
